Import Customs Changes Due In October
HM government are due to introduce new UK import procedures this year, with a new Border Operating Model (BOM) due in October 2023 that will apparently ‘set out a new approach to imports’.
At present, the details are not ‘confirmed’, as the draft proposals are currently at the ‘feedback’ stage. However the government have shared a 99 page ‘Border Target Operating Model’, which can be found HERE.
The document highlights a host of changes to import procedures that will affect both European and worldwide customs, border and trading processes. We are also expecting changes to procedures for exporting and importing, as clarity on the Windsor Framework, the new deal with the European Union, is yet to emerge.
There is some industry concern that there will be little time to prepare for these new control changes, which we hope to become finalised before the end of June.
We are monitoring developments and will advise further information when the new regulations are confirmed.
