Explosive Parcels Lead To Four Arrests In Poland
Four people have been arrested in Poland, and are set to be charged for endangering aircraft and crew, as concerns deepen over suspected attempts to plant explosives in European supply chains.
According to a report in The Loadstar, the packages may have been prepared so they ignite autonomously or explode while airborne.
Reports suggest that another two suspects are still at large, as Poland accused Russian security services of being behind the attempt to put explosives on a DHL flight, subsequently closing Russia’s consulate in Poznan.
It has been suggested that the suspects belong to a group allegedly trying to send packages that contain dangerous materials, including explosives, to fake addresses in the EU, Canada, the UK and US.
These new arrests follow warnings from German officials last month, telling European logistics businesses to be on the lookout for “unconventional incendiary devices”, after packages caught fire in Birmingham and Leipzig in July.
