Agents Without Dangerous Goods Training Risk Being Struck Off
The British International Freight Association (BIFA) are warning its members that they must update their dangerous goods certificates immediately, or face being struck-off the IATA agent roster.
The UK’s leading freight forwarding association noted that “agents who are currently non-compliant and not enrolled in DGR training will start receiving final termination notices today”.
IATA agents must have official IATA dangerous goods training every two years and those that remain non-compliant will have their IATA membership terminated on 31st August 2024. According to BIFA only 79% of UK forwarders are currently compliant.
Meanwhile, for importers and exporters involved in the handling, receiving, or transport of dangerous goods, appointing a DGSA and staff training are key to meeting their legal obligation.
