New Scheme For Northern Ireland Launched

As part of the Windsor Framework, HMRC have introduced a new system to replace the existing UK Trader Scheme (UKTS) from 30th September 2023.

The new UK Internal Market Scheme (UKIMS) offers a wider criteria and more businesses will qualify. It will eventually allow shipments to move through a ‘green lane’ when entering Northern Ireland.

HMRC require completion of the UKIMS application before July 31st 2023 in order to be approved before the new scheme commences.

If you are currently approved for the UKTS scheme, you can continue using it until the 30th September, but users will NOT be automatically transferred to UKIMS. Therefore, you should apply as soon as possible.

The green lane doesn’t come into effect until September 30th 2024. For further information, or to start your registration for UKIMS, click HERE.
